As an experienced and qualified Information Technology professional, I have a background in computer systems engineering, research and development, and customer support. My technical strengths are in software engineering, particularly in computer programming.
My career objective is to express my creativity through my engineering and IT skills, ideally through a product development role involving both hardware and software aspects. I enjoy working with organisations that encourage continual learning and development, and where everyday is different. I value teamwork, and enjoy working with a diverse range of people.

Honours Project
Undertook a project for Quantum Technology (Sydney) in 2001, with the supervision of Dr. Chris Phillips of Massey University. The project involved the evaluation, redesign and prototyping of a system to assist blind people in understanding graphics. The resulting set of recommendations and refined designs were well accepted by Quantum Technology. An ‘A’ grade was awarded for this project and its report.

Project Manager and Software Engineer for a Systems Integration Project – The aim of this project was to investigate the integration of the customer database systems used by Quicksilver Internet of Mercury Telecommunications. Involving stages from the analysis of business processes and user requirements to business process redesign and database integration. The project was successful in identifying business process improvements, producing refined designs, and providing methods for implementation.

Researched user-requirements and markets for a new software application for use by blind people and developed guidelines for its design and evaluation. Also advised the product development team on web-accessibility for blind computer users.

Provided IT support in the field of Adaptive Technology to students and staff of Massey University. Managed and administrated two Windows NT computing laboratories with specialised software and equipment.

Member of the IEE Young Members Section committee and Vice-chair of the ACM student chapter at Massey University in 2001 and 2002. Represented Massey University at the 2002 Australasian ACM Student Chapters meeting held in Melbourne.
Co-ran and developed a successful and very popular public Bulletin Board System (BBS) on-line service from June 1995 to January 1998.
Actively involved in UniQ in 2001 and 2002, and editor of the UniQ column in the university’s student newspaper in 2002. Member of the RNZFB Palmerston North advisory committee for 2001.
Sporting achievements include: being awarded a scholarship to attend the Sydney 2002 GLBT Games winning silver in the Team Triathlon event; competing in the National Goal-Ball championship at the 2002 Eve Rimmer games; and winning 2nd in the under 19’s 1994 Central Regions Body Building championship.
Interests include electronics, music, dance, cycling and
going to the gym.
